July 16, 2010

Amy Samuels of Onondaga Environmental Institute and the Onondaga Earth Corps youth organized activities and games for youth from the Southwest Community Center (Syracuse). This was part of “Onondaga Lake Day”, an event planned by Mat Weber of Project Watershed and held at Willow Bay, Onondaga Lake Park on July 16th.

Other activities were created and staffed by volunteers from SUNY-ESF, New York State Parks and Recreation, Central NY Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, Project Watershed, and Southwest Community Center staff and volunteers. All activities were hands-on, interactive, and centered on watershed issues, green infrastructure, stormwater, and the fish, wildlife, and history of Onondaga Lake.

The kids from the Southwest Community Center had a great time while learning about nature and conservation.
